Former Shanghai Shenhua manager Slutsky has taken a new job just a week after leaving, coaching a media team of influencers in Russia. He previously set a club record for points in a season but struggled in 2026 due to penalties and injuries.
Slutsky's Record at Shanghai Shenhua
Slutsky managed Shanghai Shenhua for two years and seven months, leading the team in 109 matches with a record of 65 wins, 19 draws, and 24 losses. He won the Chinese FA Super Cup twice and finished second in the Chinese Super League twice. In 2024, he set a club record for points in a season. However, in 2026, the team was docked 10 points due to an anti-corruption investigation and struggled with injuries, finishing 13th with 19 points after 20 rounds.

Slutsky chose to coach the Russian Media Football League instead of the South Korean national team or a Russian Premier League team. The league consists of influencers, bloggers, and celebrities, focusing on football promotion and entertainment. Slutsky will make his debut in the Russian Media Football League on September 4 in Dushanbe against the Tajikistan Media Football Team. Previously, the Korea Football Association had invited him to apply for the temporary position of national team manager, but he ultimately chose the Russian Media Football League.
